Overview

Dr. Joseph Magnant earned his Doctorate in Medicine and performed his General Surgery internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his Vascular Surgery fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery. He is an active member of The Society for Vascular Surgery, The American College of Phlebology, and The Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He practiced arterial and venous vascular surgery as part of a large multi-specialty group in Rome, Georgia, for 14 years, after completing his fellowship in vascular surgery in 1992.

History

He decided to further define and focus the scope of his practice to strictly venous disease management in 2005 and relocated to Fort Myers to open Vein Specialists in 2006. His goal as a board certified vascular surgeon was to create a stand alone outpatient center of vein care excellence. Since the first patient walked through the doors of Vein Specialists in June 2006, he and his dedicated staff have continued their educational outreach efforts in local communities through periodic community educational seminars and patient screenings. More recently, Vein Specialists have become very active in the community health awareness events sponsored by the American Cancer Society (Walk for the Cure) and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, as well as other local charities. He not only is certified to provide medical continuing education lectures, but generously offers his time as a speaker on a variety of topics related to the early recognition of and treatment options for venous insufficiency and vascular surgery.
